Days chased one another and another year has passed just like that.
Time flows like water in a river… Have you ever thought about how we spend the rapidly passing time in our lives?
Our lifetime is limited, and with each passing day our time becomes one day shorter. In this journey from this world to the hereafter, the most important thing we can take with us is the good deeds we have done.
Founded by good people who come together to produce goodness and deliver it to oppressed and disadvantaged people wherever they are in the world, Yardımeli Association has completed another productive year in 2022 filled with acts of kindness. With the support of our donors, we extended Anatolia’s helping hand to many parts of the world—from Asia to Africa, from the Middle East to the Balkans.
Let us together remember what we filled our bag of goodness with over the past year.
'Being a Refugee Woman'
At the beginning of the year, with the panel titled “Being a Refugee Woman” held at Zeytinburnu Cultural Center, we brought to public attention the experiences of women who migrated to our country for different reasons and are trying to hold on to life here. Women from Afghanistan, Arakan, East Turkestan, Palestine, Egypt, and Yemen shared their stories—being mothers in war, resistance, humiliation in foreign lands, their pain, hopes, and dreams.
Brother Family Project
Inspired by the brotherhood of Ansar and Muhajir, our “Brother Family” project continued to support 2,943 families with regular monthly financial assistance throughout 2022. These families were also visited periodically by our representatives, volunteers, and staff from the headquarters.
The Month of Mercy and Blessings: Ramadan
With the arrival of Ramadan, we set out with excitement. Carrying the trust of our donors—charity, alms, zakat, vows, and sacrificial donations—we delivered them to orphans, the oppressed, and those in need, both near and far.
This year Ramadan was especially fruitful for us. We reached countries and communities we could not visit during the pandemic. We were in Bangladesh, Arakan Camps, Kosovo, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Albania, Mongolia, Pakistan, Yemen, Palestine—Gaza and Jerusalem. We carried goodness, brotherhood, and prayers from Anatolia to our brothers and sisters around the world.
*During Ramadan, we delivered 20,000 food packages, 24,000 iftar meals, and 9,000 holiday clothing sets to those in need around the world.
A Sip of Water
Water is an irreplaceable natural resource for human life. In Africa, due to its dry climate, reaching water is very difficult. However, the challenge is not only drought—access to clean and drinkable water is also a serious issue.
This year we opened 198 water wells in regions where even a drop of clean water is precious.
A Light in the Darkness
Yardımeli Somalia Hospital, which started accepting patients in 2016 with a capacity of 100 beds, continues to provide healing with modern medical equipment and professional staff. This year, 571 people suffering from cataracts regained their sight through surgeries performed in our hospital.
Our Sacrifices Became Brotherhood
With the campaign “Sacrifices for Brotherhood, Saplings for Humanity,” we successfully carried out our sacrifice program in 22 countries. Through these sacrifices we aimed to connect helping hands between brothers and sisters around the world.
*Within the scope of the Qurban program, 8,637 shares of sacrifice were delivered to families in need.
